THE NEXT DAY
I heard a knock on my door.
I was really shocked when I peeped and noticed Gift through the window. My heart skipped a beat.
I relaxed my mind and opened the door.
When she saw me, she smiled warmly and fell in my arms.
It was really unusual.
Gift will never do that on a normal day.
She seemed to be in a happy mood.
"You look happy. What's the secret?" I asked her.
"You are the secret!" she teased me.
I watched her as She looked inside her school bag.
"OMG! Could my boxer be in her bag?" I asked myself.
My mind was restless.
But I was quite relieved of the tension as she brought out a piece of note from her bag.
The note contained a list of text books.
She actually wanted me to escort her to the bookshop.
I agreed.
Ofcourse I could do anything for my daughter...except that I will never let her know I am her biological father.
On our way to the bookshop, we walked in silence
I tried to come up with a gist but couldn't.
We got to the bookshop and she bought all the text books on her list.
As we were about to take our leave,
I saw a magazine. It has a topic which captivated my mind. The topic is:
"MAN CAUGHT SLEEPING WITH HIS NEIGHBOUR'S WIFE."
While I was reading it, Gift walked up to me and we read it together.
I noticed she had an unusual countenance while we were reading the story under the topic.
On our way home,
I asked her jokingly:
"what will you do if you ever catch a man sleeping with your mum?"
She replied,
"I will stab that man with knife, again and again and..."
She went on and on until I interrupted.
I was just thinking,
perhaps Gift never caught her mum and I together coz if she did,
she should have stabbed me already.
Now I am very sure that the secret is still hidden under the sun.
Wait a minute...
I thought someone once commented here that,
"Nothing can ever be hidden under the sun!"
Well it's obvious I have hidden something under the sun.
And although people are under this sun,
they will never find out.
Surely,
the secret will go down with me to the grave.
