"EPISODE EIGHT (8)"
If only I didn't try to put on the white cloth, I would still have retained my "houseboy" job.I wondered from street to street until it was 07:00pm.
I had no place to spend the night.
As I walked pass a bridge, I saw two guys sleeping resting under it.
I greeted them but they didn't reply.
I went to clean a portion so I could also join them and spend the night.
Just then,
the guys walked up to me and told me to give them money for rent before I would be allowed to sleep under the bridge.
At first I refused, telling them the bridge was constructed by the government and I can not pay a dime for it.
On hearing this, they dragged me to the top of the bridge and threatened to throw me down if I failed to comply.
They meant their words.
I had no option. I gave them the N50 given to me by the headmaster. Yet before they allowed me stay,
they told me to wash their cloth. I dared not disobey this time around.
But I used the opportunity to wash my T-Shirt before I proceeded to cleaning a portion of the bridge to lay my head.
Under the bridge was very uncomfortable yet,
I didn't know how I managed to sleep until the morning was fully bright. People were alreading heading to work.
I looked round the bridge but couldn't find the two guys.
I didn't even see the bucket I used in washing.
I didn't even see my own T-Shirt I washed.
As I stood there with no shirt, I noticed an old classmate of mine.
The only way I could hide from her was to lie flat under a dirty gutter around the bridge.
I had no alternative.
I was lucky she didn't see me but the problem now is finding where to wash my body which was very dirty.
What a random badluck for me.
My N50 was gone and my T-Shirt as well.
